Sharing the Gospel

Youth Detention Ministry

MINISTER PHIL & CONNIE NORWOOD

"When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?"

Matthew 25:39

According to the gospel writer Matthew, Jesus wants us as followers to go into the jail, prisons, and all other correctional facilities to minister to His people. We’re proud to say that part of the outreach ministry here at Mt. Commadore AME includes worshiping at the Aaron Cohn Regional Youth Detention Center weekly. During the last 4 years, this ministry has exceeded one hundred young men with the faith and belief of doubling that number over the next 2 years.

There is one visit that anyone may participate in along with the proper identification. Afterwards, there is small amount of paperwork that has to be completed and approved for further participation. We look forward to seeing you all there, and a huge Thank You to our Pastor and other Participants within this ministry.

Nursing Home Ministry

"That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 10:9-10

Nursing home ministry provides us with the opportunity to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the church walls. God requires us as Christians to share our faith in Christ so that others may hear of His gracious love for mankind. Sharing God’s word should not limited to being preached from the pulpit. We must go and share the gospel with those who do not or cannot hear it in church.

As the nursing home ministry of the Mt. Commadore A.M. E. church we are committed to sharing the gospel to our members who are residents of Azalea Trace Nursing Facility and Magnolia Manor Nursing Home. Since they cannot come to us, we are willing to go to them on the first Sunday of each month and provide them a complete worship service which includes: a song, scripture, prayer, a message, Holy Communion, anointing the residents with oil and Pastor Betty Jackson-Sparks close it with a prayer. We have an awesome worship experience with our confined members.

If you would like further details concerning our nursing home ministry you may email the head of Nursing Home Ministries, ministries@mtcommodoreame.com, or come and join us any Sunday for worship service. We will be glad to share the details of this ministry with you.

Housing Projects and Community Residents Ministry

Every Friday at 11:00, the Mt. Commadore AME Church provides a weekly Bible Study in Chase Homes Community Room. Residents of Chase Homes, Wilson Apartments and the Community are invited to attend. A flyer is distributed annually to promote this ministry.

The Bible Study is approximately one hour in length with the pastor as the facilitator. The participants are encouraged to provide input. Occasionally, Mt. Commodore provides the participants of the Bible Study with surprise gifts and door prizes.

This Bible Study Group is encouraged to participate in all activities sponsored by Mt. Commodore to include educational trips, church picnics, programs, outings to the Strawberry Patch and more!
