Spreading the Gospel

Church Growth Ministry

Minister Philander & Connie Norwood

"But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and forever. Amen."

2 Peter 3:18

Our Goal – Increase our membership by 25 or more.

Our Mission – We are the Church that displays the love of JESUS CHRIST and connect with all people from all walks of life through our worship service, bible studies and outreach ministries.

Christian Education Ministry

Minister Sherry & Willie King

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

Psalms 119:105

Welcome to the Mt. Commadore A.M.E. Church Christian Education Ministry website. All of our members, visitors and friends will be given opportunities to learn and to share biblical principles which can be used daily. We have come to realize that true ministry begins after we depart from the sanctuary. This ministry will help us to become effective ambassadors for Christ.

Jesus was not in the sanctuary when He asked the Samaritan women for a drink of water; He met her at the well where she came to draw water. Jesus did not perform His first miracle in the sanctuary; He was at a wedding in Cana. Jesus is showing us that we must go where the harvest is and feed His sheep.

You are welcome to come and join us here at Mt. Commadore as we further equip ourselves to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Music Ministry

Brother James Jackson

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise."

Psalm 98:4

We welcome you to the Music Ministry!  One of the Six Pillars of Pastor Spark’s commitment for 2018 is to affirm and move forward the work of the church by ministering through music.  An important vehicle towards that goal is to keep the people serenaded through music.

We hope that you will find a way to hear this awesome choir. Once you visit the church and worship through music, you will never be the same.

Audio Ministry

James Jackson Smith

Jesus tells us to go out and make disciples of all nations, to spread the word to people wherever they are. We at Mount Commadore are called to extend the message to people wherever they are and technology allows us to do exactly that.

The mission of the Audio Ministry is to serve as an integral part of worship insuring that the fruits of God’s word and praise to the body of Christ worshipers are heard clearly, intelligible without distraction or interference within our Church and throughout our listening community. To provide audio that is worthy of the worship of Jesus Christ.  It is crucial that our Ministry produce quality audio to those who may not have the opportunity to attend church regularly due to illness, family obligations, or job requirements.

The Audio Ministry monitors audio for quality sound output for the ministerial staff, choir, speaking staff, special guest and Sunday services. In addition, we are responsible for providing audio for special events, concerts, as appropriate. We edit audio for archive, production and purchase.

As a member of this Ministry, a member must be committed, dedicated, reliable, and serve as needed. Members must be patient, teachable and knowledge of technology is a high component. One must think creatively and be a problem solver and push through technical difficulties as they occur.

Our Job is to have a heart for God’s ear and sound if off. We know that faith comes from hearing and believes that the spoken words and songs are two of the most important aspects of a church service.

Social Justice Ministry

Brother Johnny Sparks & Rev. Dr. Betty Jackson-Sparks

"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause."

Isaiah 1:17

We welcome you to become a part of the Social Justice Ministry. As you can see, justice is mentioned time after time in the scriptures pointing to how to treat members of our society. WE are to ensure wealth is properly distributed. One of the Six Pillars of Pastor Spark’s commitment for 2018 is to affirm that Social Justice relates to our faith and beliefs in Jesus. It is necessary to address at Mt. Commadore for us to move forward the work of the church through focusing on justice.

Culinary & Hospitality Ministry

Mattie Marshall

"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but, but to serve."

Matthew 10:45

The Kitchen/Culinary Ministry supports the local church events by providing preparing and serving nutritious meals and refreshments while promoting a warm environment of hospitality and fellowship. While we are here to advance   the vision of the Pastor, our ministry stands ready to minister to a variety of culinary needs within and out of the church family. We will minister to a variety of events with a meal that lifts the spirit, encourages the heart, and please your pallet.  We provide food for the church community and stand ready, encouraged and inspired by the words of Scripture that impels us to serve.

If Culinary or Hospitality service is required, the Contact person of the Ministry/Organization making the request is responsible for discussing details of service with Mrs. Mattie Marshall.
